Critical Thinking Question.
I agree with the theory of Plate Tectonics because If plates didn't move we wouldn't have volcanoes , earthquakes and tsunamis. Here is the evidence:
The theory of plate tectonics was developed in the 1960's. This theory explains the movement of the Earth's plates and also explains the cause of earthquakes, volcanoes, oceanic trenches, mountain range formation, and many other geologic phenomenon. The plates are moving at a speed that has been estimated at 1 to 10 cm per year. Most of the Earth's seismic activity occurs at the plate boundaries as they meet each other. In 1915, the German geologist and meteorologist Alfred Wegener (1880-1930) first proposed the theory of continental drift, which states that parts of the Earth's crust slowly drift atop a liquid core. The fossil record supports and gives credence to the theories of continental drift and plate tectonics. Wegener noticed that the continents seemed to fit together, not at the continuously changing shoreline, but at the edge to their continental shelves. He derived this hypothesis from the observation that the continents in the southern hemisphere exhibit an identical pattern of rock and fossils known as the "Gondwana sequence". The most logical explanation was that the continents themselves were once parts of a much larger which was named Pangaea. Another idea supporting movement of the continents was the glacial till deposits in the southern hemisphere. With the continents in their present positions, the till deposits indicate erratic glacier motion. When the continents are fitted together, they show a much more streamlined motion of the glacier from southern Africa and Northern Australia outward.
Many fossil comparisons along the edges of continents that look like they fit together suggest species similarities that would only make sense if the two continents were joined at some point in the past.
In my opinion Plate Tectonic Theory is true, because if plates didn't move we wouldn't have earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis. As you can see all the evidence supports the theory and it seems to be true.
Reflection Questions.
1) What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
I enjoyed that in this project we had choices such as music video, foldables, prediction map and etc. So we could choose something that we are really interested in and learn something new at the same time.
2) What was most challenging for you during this project and why?
The most challenging part for me during this project was that at some stations we had two activities and I had to use my time wisely. So that was the most challenging part but everything went well.
3) What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
The new skills that I learned was making a video and creative foldables.
4) Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work? Explain.
If I had a chance to do my work again I would make presentation for the class more creative.
5) What would you change about this project?
The thing that I would change about this project is that I would make up another stations too because some people that I know didn't really get this project so it will help them to understand better.
What other kind of station would you recommend?
ReplyDeletedocumentary maybe, and take notes at the same time.(idk) :)
